Although my vocation is investments and Interior Design, my avocation has been helping children whose environment has made them vulnerable.
I started out working with abused children and trying to establish a parenting course in maternity wards, and when I came up against NYC bureaucracy I moved on to the Boys Club of New York where I was President of the Women’s Board and a trustee for 35 years and remain Trustee emeritus.
I also went onto the board of Physicians for Peace which sends American volunteer doctors and nurses to underdeveloped countries to teach local medical workers how to take care of their own people, whether it be by operations, burn centers or neonatal care. I remained on the board for 12 years and then became emeritus there as well and still raise money and awareness for them.
Having retired to Florida, I’ve become a Guardian ad Leitem and an advocating for children in the foster care system.
I am very interested in what BBM can do not only for adults with PTSD but also for children who can be helped through learning breathing processes that will calm them and give them a sense of control over their own emotions and lives despite their circumstances.
