Cecilia Beach Brings BBM Training to Rwanda

Cecilia Beach has been leading BBM trainings in Rwanda since 2018. As a resident instructor at the Ituze Mindfulness and Yoga Center in Kigali from 2018-20, Cecilia assisted Dr. Brown in the first Level 1 BBM training in Rwanda in June and August 2018. In addition to classes at the Ituze Center, Cecilia led BBM classes to a variety of populations in many different settings:

• to rural health workers in the Jali district;

• at Talking Through Art, a center dedicated to empowering women with disabilities in Rwanda;

• to the staff at Les Enfants de Dieu, an organization devoted to the rehabilitation of street kids;

• to students at the Comfort Primary School in Kanombe, which is dedicated to educating Rwanda’s vulnerable children (street kids, orphans and children living in poverty);

• to employees of the Kigali Genocide Memorial in the weeks prior to the commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi;

• to psychology students at the University of Rwanda in Butare;

• and to over a hundred elderly genocide survivors in AVEGA hostels through the country (Huye, Nyanza, Nyamata and Rusizi).

Though no longer living in Rwanda, Cecilia returns regularly to Rwanda to lead BBM trainings with Joseph Dushimimana, founder of the Aguka Wellness Center. Together they led a BBM Fundamentals course in 2023 and Level-1 Teacher Trainings in 2024 and 2025.
